Saturdays at Lichterman Nature Center

Oct 15, 2023 | 9:00 am - Jun 29, 2024 | 12:00 pm

There’s something happening every Saturday at Lichterman Nature Center from guided trail walks, trail projects, events with community partners and more.

Join us on the first Saturday of the month from 9 am until noon for an opportunity to volunteer at the nature center working on a variety of projects to help conserve and maintain this unique property.  Projects will be seasonally appropriate and can include trail maintenance, invasive plant removal, trash clean-up, and planting native plants. To volunteers for First Saturdays please contact Janie Best Paraham at [email protected] or call 901-636-2438.

On the 2nd and 4th Saturdays join a Lichterman nature center naturalist on a themed guided walk around the property*.  Themes will be seasonally appropriate including birds, wildflowers, seed collecting (“Seed Stroll”), trees, and history.  11a.m. included with regular admission.  *No guided walks January 27th for Birds & Seeds programming & April 13th for our annual plant sale

On the 3rd Saturday join us as we introduce you to a community partner or animal ambassador from 11a.m. – 1p.m.  This series will introduce some of Mosh’s community partners doing great work in the city and also highlight upcoming programming, exhibits, and opportunities at MoSH.

  • December 16th Nature Apps  – What’s That Plant?

  • January 20 Seed Saving
Starting some seeds requires more than just sticking them in dirt, and our knowledgeable plant volunteers will be on hand to talk about “seed treatments” to get better germination.   Plus learn about collecting seeds from some of our native plants.  Interested in becoming a plant volunteer?  Stop by the table and learn more about volunteer opportunities in our greenhouse and plant propagation center too.  This information table is just a preview of next week’s Birds & Seeds.
