Donnie Darko

Set in October 1988 during the presidential election, Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a troubled teenager who narrowly escapes a bizarre accident when a jet engine crashes into his bedroom while he is out sleepwalking. In the aftermath, Donnie begins having visions of Frank, a giant, ominous-looking rabbit who tells him the world will end in 28 days. As he navigates high school, his relationships with his family and a new classmate (Jena Malone), and encounters with eccentric figures in his community, Donnie struggles to determine whether he is experiencing a parallel reality, a mental breakdown, or a true countdown to the apocalypse. Directed by Richard Kelly.
