The Thing

In remote Antarctica, a group of American research scientists are startled when a helicopter begins pursuing a sled dog near their base. After taking in the dog, they are horrified when it violently attacks both humans and other dogs, revealing itself to be a shape-shifting alien capable of perfectly imitating its victims. As paranoia and mistrust spread through the isolated camp, a resourceful helicopter pilot (Kurt Russell) and the camp doctor (Richard Dysart) lead a desperate fight to stop the creature before it picks them off one by one. Directed by John Carpenter, this tense, gory sci-fi horror classic is a masterclass in practical effects and atmospheric dread.
