MOSH GROWS ITS FULL-PROOF FUNDRAISER WITH THREE ROUNDS: BEER, WINE, AND SPIRITS

MEMPHIS—MoSH, the Memphis Museums of Science and History, is pleased to announce its 2024-2025 fundraising series surrounding the Science of Beer, Wine, and now Spirits.

The annual Science of Beer event has been a signature feature for breweries—both local and out-of-market—to raise a glass and raise funds for MoSH, the umbrella organization responsible for treasured Memphis historical, science, and cultural assets including Pink Palace Museum & Mansion, Lichterman Nature Center, Mallory-Neely Historic Property, and Coon Creek Science Center. Science of Beer’s success spurred the introduction of Science of Wine, now in its ninth year. The inaugural Science of Spirits will complete the trifecta and kick off the series this November at Lichterman Nature Center.

“With our new relationship with the City of Memphis, who will continue to be a great partner, we are excited to bring even more funding and programming opportunities to our organization to support MoSH’s path forward at the Pink Palace, Lichterman, and more,” said MoSH Executive Director Kevin Thompson.

As of July 1, 2024, the Memphis City Council approved a new management agreement with MoSH to grant autonomy to the 501(c)3 as an independent entity surrounding their operations, budgeting, and programming.

Similar to contracts the city has with the Overton Park Conservancy and Memphis Zoo, MoSH is paid an annual fee by the City of Memphis to manage City-owned properties Pink Palace Museum & Mansion, Lichterman Nature Center, Mallory-Neely Historic Property, and Magevney House.

The inaugural Science of Spirits, held on November 15 at Lichterman Nature Center, will feature caterers Bain BBQ and Huey’s and distillers to help guests discover and appreciate the science and art behind their pairings. The event will also include live music by Mark Edgar Stewart.

Bourbons include:

  • Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon
  • 1792 Bourbon
  • Traveller Whiskey
  • Sazerac Rye
  • Benchmark Select Casks Single Barrel
  • Benchmark Select Casks Top Floor
  • Rich & Rare Reserve
  • Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream

“With each round, you can expect a flavorful—and scientific—journey that pairs drinks, food, and science with all proceeds benefiting MoSH programming, summer camps, STEM workshops and even more opportunities for local students,” continued Thompson.
