MoSH is sharing our award-winning 2022 documentary, “Voices of a Southern LGBTQ+ Community”, with a special screening in the Giant Screen Theater June 24 at 4pm.
The film examines the history and culture of the Memphis LGBTQ+ population and explores how Memphians with different backgrounds and experiences have come together to form thriving communities and offer powerful voices for change and acceptance in Memphis. The film was made in partnership with WKNO and V2 Media and moderated by Ray Rico of Focus Mid-South. Created as a companion to our award-winning “Memphis Proud: The Resilience of a Southern LGBTQ+ Community” exhibit, it was accepted at four national film festivals last year.
“Voices of a Southern LGBTQ+ Community” is scheduled to air statewide on June 24 at 5pm EST and June 25 at 1pm EST on all 6 public TV stations in TN (Memphis, Jackson/Martin, Nashville, Cookeville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga). The TN Channel block is public television’s secondary channel (KNO2 here in Memphis) on Sat & Sun afternoons. Here in Memphis, it is also scheduled on the main WKNO channel on Tues., June 20 at 9pm after a PBS program called “Prideland.” Nashville Public Television has also scheduled it on its main channel on June 20.
