Saturday, November 13
11:00AM – Extreme Weather 3D
John Blose of Paul Davis Restoration of the Midsouth will be discussing the types of extreme weather and ensuing disasters that affect Memphis and its surrounding areas, as well as some of the restoration challenges that can be expected in the days that follow.
1:00PM – National Parks Adventure 3D
A speaker from Ducks Unlimited, the world leader in wetland and waterfowl conservation, will share their mission of conservation and how they have saved 14 million acres since 1937.
2:30PM – Flight of the Butterflies 3D
Mary Schmidt from Lichterman Nature Center will talk about their work tagging monarchs in the Mid-South. She will also share what you can do to help monarchs and when you can expect to see monarchs passing through the Mid-South.
4:00PM – Apollo 11: First Steps Edition 2D
Bill Weppner, who worked in mission control as a NASA flight controller during the Apollo 11 mission, which launched July 16, 1969 and landed humans on the moon for the first time, will share his experiences with the Apollo space program.
Sunday, November 14
1:00PM – Wild Africa 3D
Amanda Hadicke, the Associate Curator and Elephant Manager of the Memphis Zoo, will discuss its partnership with the “Elephants for Africa” program based in Botswana, Africa. Elephants for Africa is dedicated to enhancing human-wildlife coexistence in rural communities, and its organization’s research is vital to preservation efforts.
2:30PM – Prehistoric Planet: Walking with Dinosaurs 3D
Steve Masler, former MoSH Director of Exhibits, will discuss the dinosaurs and reptiles that used to swim in the waters and walk the terrain of the Mid-South, from bones found at nearby Coon Creek to the mosasaurs and other creatures that swam the waters of the Mississippi Embayment.
4:00PM – Journey to the South Pacific 3D
Randy Wright, veteran diver and COO of the Dive Shop, will share highlights from dives in Fiji, including the various marine life found in the waters of the South Pacific region.
